Companies that want to understand and reduce their climate impact must be able to trust their data. As the requirements for climate reporting increase, the quality of the underlying information becomes absolutely crucial. That’s why GoClimate has developed a method that combines automation, expert review, and a uniquely detailed database. The result is climate data with the highest possible precision and reliability.

Automated data collection from your accounting system

When you connect your accounting system to GoClimate, all relevant climate and sustainability data related to your costs is collected automatically. Transaction data from invoices and receipts is classified according to established climate reporting standards – quickly, efficiently, and with full traceability.

You no longer need to spend time manually sorting and categorizing purchases. GoClimate translates financial data into climate data with high precision and full transparency for every transaction. The automated method is comprehensive and minimizes the risk of missing any purchase – something that often happens with manual processes.

Human in the loop – quality assurance and continuous improvement

Technology does the heavy lifting, but the algorithms never work alone. All data is reviewed through a human-in-the-loop process to ensure that the figures are accurate, complete, and relevant. This quality assurance creates a robust foundation for climate accounting and reporting in line with the GHG Protocol and the VSME standard.

Feedback from the quality team is also used as training data, enabling the models to continuously learn and improve. This means that calculations become progressively more precise, efficient, and reliable – without compromising transparency or data traceability.

A detailed database that makes a difference

GoClimate’s platform is powered by a uniquely extensive database of emission factors, both spend and cost-based. The spend-based emission factors are built on millions of real invoices from companies across a wide range of industries. It enables emission calculations with a level of detail and accuracy that was previously impossible – without sacrificing scalability.

The best of both worlds

Companies typically use two main methods to calculate their emissions:

  • Activity data, based on actual quantities – for example, liters of fuel, kWh of electricity, or kilometers traveled.
  • Cost data, based on how much money is spent on goods and services.

Activity data is the most accurate but time-consuming to collect, while cost data is easier to obtain but often less precise. GoClimate combines these two approaches. By retrieving and classifying data directly from accounting records, quality-assuring it through expert review, and applying advanced emission factors from its proprietary database, the platform delivers climate calculations that merge the simplicity of cost data with the precision of activity data.

Traditional cost-based models often rely on rough, macroeconomic averages (top-down). GoClimate has instead developed a unique database where activity data is combined with over 50 million real accounting entries – actual purchases of goods and services made by Swedish companies (bottom-up). This means we likely have Sweden’s most accurate database for cost-based emission calculations — and you can rely on the results even when activity data is missing.

The outcome is fast, scalable, and reliable climate calculations – with an accuracy that previously required extensive manual data collection.

Built for the future of climate reporting

GoClimate’s methodology is designed to meet the demands of modern sustainability reporting, including CSRD, the GHG Protocol, and VSME.
By ensuring data quality at every step, the platform provides a robust foundation for both regulatory reporting and strategic decision-making that drives real climate impact.
